God’s Word In Action

We are amazed and saddened at the intense feelings of anger, depression, fear, and hopelessness some of our Christian brothers and sisters have allowed to consume them about what is going on in the world. Amazed and saddened because the lying devil (John 8:44) seems to have succeeded in having them replace God’s love, Jesus’ death and resurrection, and the comforting Holy Spirit with his lies.

The Battle Is The Lord's

It is important to remember that the Word of God states that “the battle is the Lord’s” (1 Samuel 17:47). Any ungodliness that you see or hear in the world, God has His ways and His time in dealing with it. You might ask, “what then, should I do in times of trouble?” You should trust that God will take care of you and keep repeating and believing that “the battle is the Lord’s.”

Young David was not worried about fighting Goliath, the uncircumcised Philistine giant, who tried to come against the armies of the living God. David was at peace in the Lord, doing what he usually does, as a shepherd boy with his sling and stone. He was resting in God’s peace in a difficult situation. We are told to make every effort to enter into God’s rest (Hebrews 4:11). Our labor is to strive to enter into God’s rest, while He fights our battles.

Now, let us look at two battles that our Christian brothers and sisters keep bringing to our doorstep.

Why Did My Party Lose To That Demonic Party?

Too many of our Christian brothers and sisters are caught up with the systems of this world, and unfortunately, they insist on sharing what the world has done to them. Here is a question that comes up often, that we direct back to “let’s look at what God is doing through His Son, Jesus.” We have to point them back to the Word of God, since we are free in Christ.

Answers given were based on scriptures on God’s Love, Governments, and Sovereignty.

  • God’s says to love Him and your neighbor (Matthew 22:36-40)
  • God says to love our enemies (Matthew 5:43-44)
  • God establishes the governments and authorities (Romans 13:1-7)
  • God knows what is going on (Psalm 139)
  • God is always in control (Proverbs 16:9)
  • God can handle any situation that is impossible for us (Luke 18:27)

Why Didn't My Prayers For God's Political Party Work?

A church member asked me this question on why the prayers for God’s political party did not work.

Again my answers were based on scriptures on Judging Others, God’s Timing, and Effective Prayers.

  • God’s ways are not our ways, and God’s thoughts are not our thoughts (Isaiah 55:8-9)
  • Everything happens in God’s perfect timing (2 Peter 3:8-9)
  • Your heart and attitude may not be ready (Hebrews 4:12)
  • Do not judge others, or you may be judged (Matthew 7:1)
  • The effective prayers of a righteous man avails much (James 5:16)
  • Stop being a hypocrite, since you have also sinned (John 8:7)
  • Take the plank out of your eye before trying to take the splinter out of others (Matthew 7:3-5)
  • Without faith it is impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6)

My Thoughts

We tend to forget what happened to Daniel and his people when the Babylonians destroyed Jerusalem, captured them, and had them live among strange people (Daniel 1). What about Lot who was tormented while he was living in Sodom and Gomorrah, because of the terrible evil going on around him (Genesis 19). In these situations, God was always in control and He loved and protected his people.

Consider a beautiful Christian family that loved obeying God’s Word, living in Germany with Hitler as their leader. What about the beautiful Christian families living in the USA, with a nation divided against each other during a worldwide pandemic. God was and is always protecting and loving His people.

Let us remember that we are Kingdom Children and the Holy Spirit is here to guide and comfort us, while we are in the world (John 16:13-14).

Here Are Some Scriptures That Describe What The Holy Spirit Is Doing In Us Today

  • We are in the world, but we are not of the world (John 17:13)
  • We are children of the Light (1 Thessalonians 5:5)
  • We must let our light shine (Matthew 5:16)
  • We do not conform to the pattern of this world (Romans 12:2)
  • We have God our Father in heaven who gave us Jesus (John 3:16)
  • We will never be alone (Matthew 28:20)
  • We have the mind of Christ (1 Corinthians 2:16)
  • We love thinking about Jesus (Philippians 4:8-9)

In Conclusion

If you have the love of Christ in you, then you would not want to hate others (1 John 2:3-6). God loved the world so much that He sent His Son so that you could have life, if you choose to believe in Him (John 3:16). Jesus wants you to have life and have it more abundantly (John 10:10). Jesus also said that you must love Him with all of your heart, soul, mind and strength, and also love your neighbor as yourself (Mark 12: 29-31). Enter into God’s rest through Jesus, so that He can fight your battles for you, which He has already won at the cross of Calvary.

There is peace even in the midst of a storm (Mark 4:39). Be free, Christian brothers and sisters, in Jesus, and make every effort to enter His rest, because the battle belongs to Him!
