God wants a loving, fatherly relationship with His children (2 Corinthians 6:18), who communicates with Him every moment. He does not want His children to act like hypocrites, pretending to love Him. When we communicate with God, no one else has to see us praying (talking) to our Father in Heaven, even though that may happen sometimes. It is a wonderful thing to know that God can see what is in your heart and if it is full of love for Him or not. Jesus taught the Disciples how to pray, and we should take His example as our guide when talking to His Father; Our Father.
Matthew 6:5 “And when you pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. 6 But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly. 7 And when you pray, do not use vain repetitions as the heathen do. For they think that they will be heard for their many words.
8 “Therefore do not be like them. For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him. 9 In this manner, therefore, pray:
Prayer:
9b Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name.
10a Your Kingdom come.
10b Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors.
13a And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one.
13b For Yours is the Kingdom and the Power and the Glory forever. Amen.
Comment:
9b He is our dearest Father. He relates to us as His children, and we can pray (talk) to Him every moment. For God to be our Father means that we believe in Jesus, His Son! Jesus offered the free gift of salvation through His death, burial, resurrection, and ascension to anyone who does not know Him. It is our Father’s desire that no one perish.
10a We should always be praying (talking) to our Father every moment we have. We can be doing anything or saying anything to others in the world, while still praying in the Spirit. They would not know what we are doing in our hearts, but God knows and hears. When we have this ongoing relationship with God, our Father, we will always be ready and praying for His Kingdom to come and take us home.
10b But even if you do not come right now, dear Father, we pray that “your will be done on earth, as it is done in Heaven.” It is the most wonderful thing to see God’s will for our life in heaven manifested here on earth! This is what having a father-child relationship and communicating with each other daily does for us. A Father who is the creator of all things, living and non-living, giving whatever He wants to His children!
11 We depend on Him totally for our provisions and health. Our Father knows what we need before we can even think of it and “He is able to do more than we can ever think or imagine.” Thank you Father for our daily provisions!
12 Please forgive us our debts (owing others), as we forgive our debtors (those who owe us). It is so comforting to know that our Father wants us to be debt-free and to forgive anyone in this world who owes us. Our Father knows that we will have difficulties and struggles in this world, and He blesses us when we submit to His Spirit through our faith in Jesus to overcome life’s challenges and be a blessing to others.
13a Dear Father, when we sin, after being tempted, we pray that you will deliver (save) us from the evil one (the devil). We know you are our forgiving Father who sees that our faith in the blood of Jesus, who is our advocate, will deliver us from the devil.
13b We are so thankful that everything belongs to you, our Father. You have control over the Kingdoms of this world; you have all the Power and all the Glory in the heavens and the earth. Thank you dear Father for choosing me to be your child! Amen.
