As a child of God, God our Father and Jesus, our Lord and Savior, have made a home in us (John 14:22-23) because we have faith and obey His Word. The Spirit of God tells us that we are children of God and heirs of God and co-heirs with Jesus Christ. How wonderful!! Let me repeat this. We are Children Of GOD. I wish we could be convinced of this! Why? Because if we believe this, the Word of God, our Bible, will be Alive to us! Not only that, the Manifest Kingdom living in our lives would be seen, even though we are still in the world!
Ephesians 3:14-21 tells us that God’s Spirit is in our inner being (spirit), giving us the power to make us strong so that when we believe God’s Word, Jesus can dwell in our hearts. Again, how wonderful!!! Once this happens, the Scripture states, “you may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, 19 and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God”. We can’t even begin to understand how much God loves us unless we have the power, along with other believers, to grasp this. Another, again!!! How wonderful!!!
I am excited because the Word of God is fundamental to my family and me. Everything about God our Father, Jesus, our Lord and Savior, and the Fellowship of the Holy Spirit is real to us! God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit are real to us! How do we know this? Good question. I could go on forever in writing this article to try to convince you, the reader, that God is great, but that would be using just words to make a point, which everyone does. I prefer to do what Jesus said when I need to be convinced of what someone is saying. Jesus said that when people make claims about this or that, look at their fruit (Matthew 7:15-20), which is to say, see how they are living or what they do in general. So, what does my fruit look like?
Let me make this personal. God’s Word is full of promises for me, and I intend to experience every one of them as part of my daily life because I am a believer expecting all that my Father, God, has promised in the Name of Jesus. Since I know and He knows that I do not always do the things expected of me, I willingly submit to Him, and He becomes my eyes, ears, hands, feet, etc. He is my everything, so the fruit seen in me is not my fruit; it is the Fruit of the Spirit. The Father gives me power through His Spirit in my inner being (my spirit) so that Jesus can live in my heart through faith to manifest the Fruit of the Spirit in my life (Ephesians 3:16-21). Here is what you see manifesting in the world in my life and the lives of my family: Love, Joy, Peace, Longsuffering, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, and Self-Control. I am sorry, but I have to repeat it. How wonderful!!! Being at home, work, play, church, or anywhere for that matter is a “how wonderful” experience, even when living in a cruel and lost world. Oh, how I wish many of my brothers and sisters in Christ could understand God’s will for their lives. His good, pleasing and perfect will! (Romans 12:2)
For those of us who get this, we must remember to not only live in the Spirit but walk in the Spirit (Galatians 5:25). Living in the Spirit is having the work of the Holy Spirit manifest its Fruit (love, joy, peace, etc.) in our daily lives. This happens when we love the Lord, our God, with all our heart, soul, and mind, which is the greatest commandment.
Walking in the Spirit is having the work of the Holy Spirit manifest its Fruit in our neighbor’s lives through us. This happens when we love our neighbor as ourselves, which is part of the greatest commandment. As we live in the world, we should notice what Jesus said in His Sermon on the Mount. Jesus said that we are the salt of the earth and the light of the world.
Being the Salt of the earth enables the world to see a Kingdom child showing confidence and dedication to the Word of God. Salt preserves and enhances food. Jesus preserves His teachings in us so that the world can’t cause it to decay. Salt also enhances the taste of food, which means that we should present the teachings of Jesus as the only truth to be preserved.
Being the Light of the world enables the world to see a Kingdom child portraying themselves in such a way that they see their great works and can’t help giving glory to our Father, God, who they may or may not know.
