The three faces you see representing the good, evil, and saved man are the same because it is not what is outside of a man that determines whether he is good, bad, or evil, but what is inside the man (Mark 7:20-23). The Bible shows that man has three parts: spirit, soul, and body (1 Thessalonians 5:23b), and only God determines what is good or evil, life or death, which He teaches in the Bible (Romans 8:5-8). God gives us the will to choose Him or reject Him. Since we all start out evil (Romans 3:23) because of Adam (Romans 5:12), let us turn to Jesus, whom God sent to save us and give us eternal life (John 3 16-17).
Mark 7:20 He went on: “What comes out of a person is what defiles them. 21 For it is from within, out of a person’s heart, that evil thoughts come—sexual immorality, theft, murder, 22 adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. 23 All these evils come from inside and defile a person.”
1 Thessalonians 5:23b May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Romans 8:5 Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. 6 The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. 7 The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. 8 Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God.
Romans 3:22b …There is no difference between Jew and Gentile, 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, …
Romans 5:12 Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned—
John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
Typically, the world defines a good man as one who follows the law and treats everyone with love, caring, and respect, and an evil man as the opposite of a good man. Having faith in Jesus to trust and obey God’s Word and become a saved man is foreign and antithetical to the worldview (John 17:14).
John 17:14 I have given them your word and the world has hated them, for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world.
When God sees the Good and Saved man, he sees them as the same person who confessed with their mouth the Lord Jesus and believed in their heart that God raised Jesus from the dead (Luke 6:45a; Romans 10:9). The Evil man believes only in his strength and wisdom, and he may or may not believe in some form of godliness for daily living. The Evil man has nothing to do with the Word of God (John 17:14-16) until he has a heartfelt desire that God has enabled for him to come to Jesus (John 6:44).
Luke 6:45a A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, …
Romans 10:9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
John 17:14 I have given them your word and the world has hated them, for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world. 15 My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one. 16 They are not of the world, even as I am not of it.
John 6:44 No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day.
So our focus will be on the Evil man becoming a Saved man. A Saved man is an Evil man who recognizes how sinful he is in his thoughts, words, and deeds and needs someone to save him. So God enables the Evil man to come to the only one who can save him; Jesus (Romans 10:9).
Romans 10:9 … that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
Let us pray that you choose to become the saved man and not remain the evil man, thinking you can fix yourself with the sewage of this beautiful, wonderful, and enticing world. A Saved man lives in this world, but he is not from this world and does not conform to the ways of the world (Romans 12:2), after becoming a child of God (John 17:13-16).
Romans 12:2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
John 17:13 But now I come to You, and these things I speak in the world, that they may have My joy fulfilled in themselves. 14 I have given them Your word; and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. 15 I do not pray that You should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil one. 16 They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.
We will unpack the biblical concept of Evil man and Saved man now that we know that a good man is a Saved man if you belong to Jesus Christ (Galatians 5:24).
Galatians 5:24 … And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
