Let us examine John 15 to understand how to be fruitful in our daily lives once we have become a child of God. Jesus tells us that He is the true vine, and His Father is the gardener. He also tells us that we are the branches, and if we remain in Him, we will bear much fruit. Jesus wants us to bear much fruit, and He warns that we can do nothing without Him.
When you accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior of your life, you decided to allow Jesus to take control of every area of your life. In John 15:5, Jesus says that you are the branches, and if you are connected to Him (the vine, who is Jesus), you will bear fruit (John 15:2). You will notice in the same verse 2; however, that some are connected to Jesus but are not bearing fruit. How is that possible?
John 15:1 (NIV) “I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener.
John 15:5 (NIV) “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.
John 15:5 (NKJV) “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.
John 15:2 (NKJV) Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit.
