In John 15:16, Jesus says that He chose and appointed us to go and bear fruit that will last; the Father will give us anything we ask for in His Name, and we are commanded to love each other. So when we abide in Jesus and bear much fruit, we are chosen and appointed to go and bear fruit, which is to go out into the world and make disciples of Jesus Christ (Matthew 28:19-20). This is the Great Commission from Jesus.
When we (those of us who are chosen and appointed) go and obey Jesus (the only True Vine) by bearing fruit that will last (evangelizing the Word of God), other branches are formed in Jesus that either bear fruit for God to prune or do not bear fruit for God to cut off. As long as the new branches abide in Jesus and He in them, they will go from bearing fruit to God pruning them to bear more fruit so that they eventually bear much fruit and are chosen and appointed to bear fruit that will last. Thank you, dear God, for supplying all our needs through Jesus (Philippians 4:19). This is how the Body of Christ, the Church grows when the foundation is Jesus Christ and God, our Father, is glorified (1 Corinthians 3:10-15).
Scripture Passages
John 15:14 You are my friends if you do what I command. 15 I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you. 16 You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you. 17 This is my command: Love each other.
Matthew 28:19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Mark 16:15 He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. 16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.
1 Corinthians 15:1 Now, brothers and sisters, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. 2 By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.
Philippians 4:19 And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.
1 Corinthians 3:10 By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as a wise builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should build with care. 11 For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12 If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, 13 their work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each person’s work. 14 If what has been built survives, the builder will receive a reward. 15 If it is burned up, the builder will suffer loss but yet will be saved—even though only as one escaping through the flames.
